To all Participants


The Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church has organized a Peace Summit to be held in Nairobi from 13th – 18th April 2009 at the Lenana School. This is an initiative to respond to the challenges posed by the effects of the 2007 Post election violence, which affected predominately the youth in Kenya.

The peace summit under theme “Embrace Peace, Fulfil dreams” will bring together 200 youth from all the provinces of Kenya including both Christians and Muslims to deliberate and develop home-grown approaches to peace building and reconciliation.

All participants are expected to arrive at the venue of the Peace Summit not later than 12.Noon on 13th April 2009 in preparation for introduction, climate setting and group formation. The Summit has organized for Accommodation at Lenana School and will provide bed sheets/ blankets for all participants. We expect you to pay for your travel costs to Nairobi, and reimbursements will be given on site. Note: No reimbursements will be paid without proof of travel receipts.

Please contact the organizers with your arrival time so we can arrange for your pick-ups. This should be done prior to departure from your respective countries to avoid delay in pick-ups.

All participants will receive conference material on payment of registration fee KES. 500 (Five Hundred shillings).

Participants who indicated media as an interest area in the registration forms are advised to arrive at the venue by 8.00am Monday 13th April 2009 for media training. The Summit shall only accredit trained participants to the Peace Summit Media team.

The Peace Summit will be held at Lenana School along Ngong Road. We have an electronic map available on google maps. Direction from the city centre: Board a bus No.111 (City Hopper- green in colour) at the city centre- Kenkom bus stop opposite Hilton Hotel. Get off at Lenana School

All participants attending the Kenya Youth Peace Summit are expected to uphold high discipline both to self and others during the Summit. Alcohol, Miraa and other forms of drugs shall not be condoned at any time during the Summit. All participants are advised not to carry sophisticated electronics to the summit. Whoever carries such gadgets are forewarned that the Summit organizers will not be liable for any loss.

All participants are advised to carry toothpaste / brush, sandals, towels and soap for personal hygiene during the Peace Summit.
